Script Reading & Story Development Services

My foundational experience as a script reader includes work with the Royal Court Theatre (2010–2012), where I assessed new writing submissions and supported writers’ groups, and with Out of Joint (2010), one of the UK’s foremost new-writing companies. I also served as a script reader for the Tobacco Factory’s Space Project (2012), giving me a broad understanding of diverse theatrical voices and the development needs of new work.

In addition to script assessment, my wider career as a dramaturg and mentor enriches the depth and sensitivity of my reading services. I have worked extensively with the Mercury Theatre—most recently as Literary Associate—where I lead a nine-month writer development attachment focused on discovering new voices from the East of England. My roles with the Adopt A Playwright Award, HighTide Theatre, the Old Vic, Writers Arcade, Leeds Playhouse, and the Young Vic have allowed me to guide writers from first draft through redrafting, workshop processes, and toward production.

My work also extends to supporting neurodiverse writers through Arts Council England Access Support, helping applicants shape clear, compelling project narratives, and to tutoring young screenwriters through the BFI in Suffolk, where I supervise script development for short films from conception to shoot.

Whether I am providing detailed written reports, structural analysis, developmental notes, or one-to-one dramaturgical sessions, my focus remains consistent: to help writers strengthen their craft, clarify their story, and move their work toward the next stage of its life.
